Tomorrow afternoon I will be flying to Edmonton for a super quick trip, but guess who’s coming back to the Vancouver studio first thing tomorrow morning for a brand new video project…
I am pretty stoked about it!!!
More on this very soon…

Here is a photo I shot a few months ago with my friend Jessica.
Jess is an incredible make-up artist in Vancouver who also masters the art of modeling and doing incredible fitness competitions. That’s when she’s not traveling, writing, or making art and calligraphy.
She is one of the busiest business woman I know. If you need a solid make-up artist in BC, give her a shout, you’ll thank me later.

A few days ago, my friend Rianne stopped by the studio for a portrait session. I photographed Rianne for the first time last year as part of my EKTA Series, but since then, her hair went from short and dark black to long and flashy red.
Since my hair is short and dark too, maybe I should try this flashy red thing as well… What do you think?
More photos coming very soon…

A few days ago, my friend Tessa (who came all the way from New-Zealand) dropped by the studio.
I already photographed Tess a couple of years ago, and as a matter of fact, she was the first model I photographed for my big Nude Fine-Art Series. Click here to see her photo if you haven’t already seen it.
She is THE reason why this big photo series started.
This time around, among other things, I wanted to try and create a rainy window for one of her portraits.
We have an incredible amount of daylight coming in the studio, but all of it from skylights, we don’t have actual windows on the walls. (Aside from the huge “garage” door, of course.)
So, after bringing in a tiny plexiglass window and spraying some “rain” on it, here is what we came up with.
What do you think?

You saw, the version of that photo with August sharp and Ruffle blurry here a few days ago, here is now the photo taken about one second later.
You guys have no idea how much I enjoy shooting with my new 85mm. That lens is so fast and soooo sharp at f/1.2!
I haven’t actually used it at any other aperture so far, and I am not about to, as it is so bokehlicious! (as my friend Thierry M would say.)

I flew back from Alberta late last night, and I have seen some crazy things in the past 3 days, some incredibly sad and some very fun and intense.
Yesterday, I spent 6 hours outside by -25 degrees, directing 20 people, 6 trucks and 2 trailers in front of a giant oil rig. And at some point the buttons of my camera started to freeze. My face was red last night too.
In the meantime, as I mentioned here a few days ago, during my latest studio shoot with August Wiled, there might have been another model.
Indeed, Ruffle Silkskin, a Vancouver burlesque dancer came by the studio as well.
I have a lot of very cool photos of her, but for now, as a teaser and transition between August’s shoot and hers, here is a photo of the 2 of them together.

On Saturday, I had my first official shoot in the new studio.
As you might have seen on the previous photos, the space is big and white. But what you haven’t seen, is that we do have some cool steal doors and other funky materials here and there that we can use, so we don’t always shoot against a white wall.
To prove my point, I had my friend August Wiled over.
August is a model, singer, flute and guitar player, burlesque dancer and has been practicing ballet dancing for 16 years. Quite the resume!!!
If you’re looking for a great model in Vancouver, I definitely suggest you check her out.
We shot a lot of photos to get acquainted with the new studio and this is one of them.

It snowed quite a bit today in Vancouver. Like at least 8 to 10 cm. So people freaked out and crashed their cars everywhere and all. (I can hear my friends in Alberta laugh pretty hard right about now.)
So anyway, before going out in the craziness and the cold this morning, I decided to take a little “nature morte” and enjoyed the quiet for a few minutes…

Here is a photo I shot 2 years ago and that I never used.

I spent the past week or so organizing my next shoots in Edmonton and the next ones in Vancouver (as soon as I am back here, on Dec 6th) so I haven’t had time to shoot that much recently.
The good news is that the next 10 days, starting tomorrow, are gonna be crazy busy and I will have a lot to share with you all.
In the meantime, here is a photo that I took a few months ago, that I never got around to processing… Until yesterday.
This is Lizbit, who is somehow rocking the “blond Joan of Arc” look.
I like it. Do you?
