A few days ago, my friend Heidi stopped by the studio. I already tried this style with August a few months ago, but I decided to give it another go. I mean, you guys know how much I love my bokeh and my overexposed images, right…?

What do you think? Success or Fail? Should I do more?

A lot of people ask me why I photograph so many women and not as many men. I don’t really know why. I guess it’s mostly because more women ask me to photograph them, so the ball started rolling that way and my portrait portfolio now mostly consists of female models.

But, recently, my photographer friend Chris Thorn asked me that question again, so I decided to have him at my studio and show him that I could photograph good looking dudes as well.

To my female followers, that one is for you…  ;o)

A couple of days ago, I was in Venice Beach. There, you can’t look anywhere without finding something cool to photograph.

The skate park was pretty crowded, but at some point most people got out of my frame except for that rad skateboarding girl.

I don’t know who she is, but I’m assuming that she is a regular, so if you live around Venice and eventually go to the park and see her, feel free to let her know she is on my blog now, looking cool… ;o)

Yesterday I stepped on the old “Friends” set at Warner Brothers in Burbank.

I have been around quite a lot of movie and TV show sets, and I am usually never start struck or in this case set struck, but I gotta admit that this one will always have a special place in my heart.

When I was 15 years old, I used to watch “Friends” over and over… and over, and I basically learned to speak English watching those guys.

At the time I was literally dreaming about walking in the Central Perk, so I guess, that one is officially crossed off the bucket list.

It did take 17 years, but I’ll take it anyway…

I’m heading out to Los Angeles tomorrow, time to trade the ski pants and jacket for a light shirt and shorts. I shot this photo yesterday with my trusty iPhone on Cypress Mountain and if all goes well, I should have some beach photos pretty soon. Fun week…

If anyone is in L.A and wanna say “hi”, give me a shout.

Last month I spent a few days in Edmonton on several projects.

One of them consisted of filming the 2013 First Nation Conference for Sustainable Buildings and Communities.

And at some point during the conference, the bands REDDNATION and Asani joined forces to perform their latest duo “Take a Stand” for us.

So as I was filming by myself, I had 2 options on that one:

Either leave the camera on a tripod and catch the whole thing, wide angle style (did anybody say “boring…”?), or grab my camera off the sticks, and run like hell around the singers and dancers while they were performing in order to get as many different angles as possible.

Good thing I like running…

Last week I got the pleasure of meeting Fiona Wade.

Fiona and I happen to have a lot of people in common, but somehow our paths never crossed over the last 4 years I have been in Vancouver.

After a couple of instagram comments, emails and such, we finally met for coffee last Thursday and she came to the studio on Saturday.

And for the occasion we tried a bunch of new light styles (new for me anyway). As many of you know, I usually photograph my models using natural light, and find it very comfortable to work with.

But comfortable is rarely a good idea when it comes to creative fields so I decided to mix it up a little bit.

For those of you who think that they can’t take good photos because they don’t have the proper equipment, or enough money to buy cool lights, I just want to clarify that, on this pic, Fiona is lit by a couple of lights that add up to about 23$… (To buy them, not to rent!)

So I don’t wanna hear that excuse again, ever!

Though, finding a great model is priceless, I give you that…

More details about this very soon.

A few weeks ago, the Lovely August Wiled stopped by my studio to do what she loves most… Dance!

At the time I just got my hands on the latest “Muse” album and thought some of the songs would go nicely with a ballerina dancing.

Here is what we came up with, I’d love to know what you think of it.

And of course, if you are in the neighborhood, please, feel free to come to my studio to pose, dance, have fun!
I’d love to have you.
