A few days ago, my friend Heidi stopped by the studio. I already tried this style with August a few months ago, but I decided to give it another go. I mean, you guys know how much I love my bokeh and my overexposed images, right…?
What do you think? Success or Fail? Should I do more?

A lot of people ask me why I photograph so many women and not as many men. I don’t really know why. I guess it’s mostly because more women ask me to photograph them, so the ball started rolling that way and my portrait portfolio now mostly consists of female models.
But, recently, my photographer friend Chris Thorn asked me that question again, so I decided to have him at my studio and show him that I could photograph good looking dudes as well.
To my female followers, that one is for you… ;o)

A couple of days ago, I was in Venice Beach. There, you can’t look anywhere without finding something cool to photograph.
The skate park was pretty crowded, but at some point most people got out of my frame except for that rad skateboarding girl.
I don’t know who she is, but I’m assuming that she is a regular, so if you live around Venice and eventually go to the park and see her, feel free to let her know she is on my blog now, looking cool… ;o)

I’m heading out to Los Angeles tomorrow, time to trade the ski pants and jacket for a light shirt and shorts. I shot this photo yesterday with my trusty iPhone on Cypress Mountain and if all goes well, I should have some beach photos pretty soon. Fun week…
If anyone is in L.A and wanna say “hi”, give me a shout.

Last Saturday, Leigh stopped by the studio for a quick photo shoot.
She was actually quite sick that day and almost didn’t make it, but I am glad she did because we got some pretty cool photos.
Way to tough it up Leigh! Thank you!
Here is a sneak peek for you all.
What do you guys think about her mohawk? Pretty cool, right!
More very soon.

A few days ago, my friend Rianne stopped by the studio for a portrait session. I photographed Rianne for the first time last year as part of my EKTA Series, but since then, her hair went from short and dark black to long and flashy red.
Since my hair is short and dark too, maybe I should try this flashy red thing as well… What do you think?
More photos coming very soon…

Here is one more reason why I love Vancouver so very much.
You get to start your day at home or at the studio, work for 5 or 6 hours, then drive 25 minutes and end up in Cypress for a evening ski session.
Yesterday I skied at night for the first time and it was just mind blowing. This picture was taken around 4.30 pm so it’s still daylight (sort of…), but a few minutes later we were skiing in the dark, with only the lights of the Cypress ski complex and the big city of Vancouver all lit up down in the Valley.
Amazing feeling…

About a year and a half ago, during one of my trips to Chase Jarvis’s studio in Seattle, I got the chance to meet to 2 hip hop artists called Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.
At the time, I had no idea who they were, but I actually knew one of their songs called “Wings”. But it’s only after they performed “Can’t Hold Us” (you can actually see me on this video…) for the very few of us in the room that I realized what was happening.
It felt like a huge slap in the face. I was clearly witnessing something that I would probably not be able to witness ever again. A one on one Macklemore and Ryan Lewis show.
Which also gave us time to snap some very cool photos of them performing.
(See more photos by clicking here)
And guess what…? As Chase predicted and as we all knew as soon as we saw them on stage that day, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis eventually exploded in the charts a few weeks later, and thanks to their very cool “Thrift Shop” song, they are now number one on the billboard chart, and on pretty much every other charts out there.
Congratulations guys, and to quote you: “This is fucking awesome!”
Thanks again to Chase Jarvis for this amazing opportunity, and to Ben and Ryan for the amazing live performance that day.

A few days ago, my friend Tessa (who came all the way from New-Zealand) dropped by the studio.
I already photographed Tess a couple of years ago, and as a matter of fact, she was the first model I photographed for my big Nude Fine-Art Series. Click here to see her photo if you haven’t already seen it.
She is THE reason why this big photo series started.
This time around, among other things, I wanted to try and create a rainy window for one of her portraits.
We have an incredible amount of daylight coming in the studio, but all of it from skylights, we don’t have actual windows on the walls. (Aside from the huge “garage” door, of course.)
So, after bringing in a tiny plexiglass window and spraying some “rain” on it, here is what we came up with.
What do you think?
