This morning, Jessica stopped by the studio to shoot for the EKTA series.
But as you know, I never miss an occasion to ask my models to put some clothes on and to stick around for a few portraits.
So after a great EKTA session (you’ll see some photos very soon) we shot those photos.
If you’re around Vancouver and want to shoot with me, as always, contact the studio and we’ll make it happen.

Looks like with the amount of videos we are doing these days, “Brice Ferre Photography” will soon become “Brice Ferre Studio”.
What do you guys think?
We have even created a video page on www.briceferre.com, go check it out.
I have worked for quite a while on documentaries and feature films when I was in France, so shooting and editing videos is second nature. And I am actually realizing that more and more of my photo clients ask me if we can shoot videos for them as soon as they know it’s an option.
Here is a recent video we worked on with Jennifer Williams, N°1 boudoir photographer in British Columbia and Alberta.

Here is the second video of the new “My Song” Series.
This one features Victoria and she is dancing/singing on her favorite song: “And the Boys”, by Angus and Julia Stone.
We filmed this video a few months ago, and since then, got quite a lot of request for more.
A few more models are already booked in the next weeks, so hang on to your seats, because we’ll have more to share pretty soon.

If you take as many photos as I do, you should pretty quickly realize that there is a pattern in what you like to photograph and what you tend to stay away from. (try to see a wedding dress in my portfolio, good luck with that :o) )
For me it was obvious pretty quickly that I like to take photos of people.
As much as I love looking at a landscape with my own eyes, I’d rather take it all in without photographing it. Don’t get me wrong, if I have to photograph it, I can do a damn good job, but it doesn’t excite me as much as photographing a face.
I love portraits. and if I had to choose between fine-art, landscapes, or anything else, I would choose to do portraits.
When I started doing this I wondered what I could do to find people to photograph.
And then I realize that if you love what you do, usually you tend to be good at it. And if you are really good at it, then people talk. And pretty quickly you don’t have to work to hard to find people who want to work with you.
So do what you love, or love what you do, and do a great job. People will eventually come to you.

Today I printed, and framed some of the “Authenticity Portraits” I had in my portfolio.
I am always amazed by the look the prints. If a photo looks good on a computer, you should always print it, as it will mostly always look very very good then.
I was quite pleased with the result.

One more photo of Yared for you guys. Just because…

Since I started this portrait series I have photographed 28 women and 3 men, so today’s shoot was kind of a win win for me. (“Winning !!” as our friend Charlie would say)
The first win was because Yared is a dude, so that’s one more for our team.
And the second win is because, between all my friends in Vancouver, Yared is by far the one with the coolest style.
Those who follow my blog already know him because I have photographed his work a few times. For those of you who don’t know him, check out Yared’s paintings on his website. His art is amazing.
In my last post I told you that the next photo you’d see would be a guy.
Guess what, I lied. I won’t be shooting him until next week. But in the mean time, I went through all my portrait pictures yesterday for a project I am working on, and I found that one.
The reason I love portraits so much is because you get to see the real side of people if they’re comfortable enough during the shoot. Here is Tania and her right amount of crazy. She looks comfortable, don’t you think?
The black and white portrait series continues with Kieran. She stopped by my studio for another reason, but as usual, asked her if she was ok to stay 10 more minutes for a quick portrait session and she said yes. She just helped me cross the 30 models mark for this collection. Thanks Kieran !
And who knows, you might get the chance to see the result of the shoot she actually came for pretty soon.
