Beginning of a new abstract series… Who’s in?

A few days ago, my friend Heidi stopped by the studio. I already tried this style with August a few months ago, but I decided to give it another go. I mean, you guys know how much I love my bokeh and my overexposed images, right…?
What do you think? Success or Fail? Should I do more?

My good friend Lizbit stopped by the studio yesterday just to say “hi” but I couldn’t resist taking a photograph of her new hair…

Fiona Wade playing Venus de Milo at my studio…

Last week I got the pleasure of meeting Fiona Wade.
Fiona and I happen to have a lot of people in common, but somehow our paths never crossed over the last 4 years I have been in Vancouver.
After a couple of instagram comments, emails and such, we finally met for coffee last Thursday and she came to the studio on Saturday.
And for the occasion we tried a bunch of new light styles (new for me anyway). As many of you know, I usually photograph my models using natural light, and find it very comfortable to work with.
But comfortable is rarely a good idea when it comes to creative fields so I decided to mix it up a little bit.
For those of you who think that they can’t take good photos because they don’t have the proper equipment, or enough money to buy cool lights, I just want to clarify that, on this pic, Fiona is lit by a couple of lights that add up to about 23$… (To buy them, not to rent!)
So I don’t wanna hear that excuse again, ever!
Though, finding a great model is priceless, I give you that…
More details about this very soon.

Here is another sneak peek of my shoot with Rianne last week.
I am trying to book as many new models as possible and already have a full schedule ahead of me, but if you think you would enjoy shooting at the studio with me, give me a shout and we’ll make it happen as soon as possible.

Looks like we’ve just passed 250.000 views for the “My Song” video series!
If you haven’t seen any of it yet, you are missing out.
But the good news is that you can catch up here or by clicking on the big photo above.

A few days ago, my friend Tessa (who came all the way from New-Zealand) dropped by the studio.
I already photographed Tess a couple of years ago, and as a matter of fact, she was the first model I photographed for my big Nude Fine-Art Series. Click here to see her photo if you haven’t already seen it.
She is THE reason why this big photo series started.
This time around, among other things, I wanted to try and create a rainy window for one of her portraits.
We have an incredible amount of daylight coming in the studio, but all of it from skylights, we don’t have actual windows on the walls. (Aside from the huge “garage” door, of course.)
So, after bringing in a tiny plexiglass window and spraying some “rain” on it, here is what we came up with.
What do you think?

I spent the past week or so organizing my next shoots in Edmonton and the next ones in Vancouver (as soon as I am back here, on Dec 6th) so I haven’t had time to shoot that much recently.
The good news is that the next 10 days, starting tomorrow, are gonna be crazy busy and I will have a lot to share with you all.
In the meantime, here is a photo that I took a few months ago, that I never got around to processing… Until yesterday.
This is Lizbit, who is somehow rocking the “blond Joan of Arc” look.
I like it. Do you?

On top of the commercial and editorial contracts I work on, I always try to create personal work. I obviously like to work in series, and once I have found a concept I love, I try to find as many models as possible to develop that series.
I have been fortunate enough with my last 4 big series that they became pretty popular and a lot of people wanted to be part of them and booked me.
Though, I think it is now time to create something new and different.
I have been working around similar concepts for the past couple of years and I am now working on new ideas and styles. I already have a lot things in mind that I want to try, and will be looking for people to help me out very soon.
Anyway, this picture reflects the last 18 months of my creative process and I will, very soon, share some new photos, maybe a new series with you all.
If you missed them, you can find all these series here:
EKTA / NUDE FINE ART / AUTHENTICITY / MY SONG (Video Series)
In the mean time, if you haven’t booked me for any of those previous series and you have always wanted too, then you should definitely hurry up, because, I might not shoot them for very long any more.
So, if you want to shoot with me, you know what to do…

I am working on a bunch of different projects right now, and I will let you know more about them as soon as my clients give me the go.
But one thing I can show you and that I will keep shooting no matter what, is my EKTA Series.
Yesterday, Kelly dropped by the studio for a quick photo shoot.
You’ve already seen her video a few weeks ago here, but she came back for photos this time.
The EKTA Series is getting really big and is quickly getting as important as my previous Nude Fine-Art Series.
As I mentioned, I am very very busy, but if you want to book a session with me, there might still be available spots in November. (Just sayin’….)
In any case, if you want to be part of this series, you know what to do…
