Here is another sneak peek of my shoot with Jessica last week.

As always… if you are a fitness/yoga fanatic, that you look badass in your Lululemon and you want to create some cool photos, give me a shout. I will be looking for a few people very shortly.

As I mentioned a few days ago, I am slowly, but most definitely, moving toward a new photo series and some new personal projects.

For the past 2 years I have taken most of my photographs (for the fine art series anyway) using daylight, and gorgeous naked models. Now, don’t get me wrong, this is a pretty solid recipe. If you know what you’re doing and you know how to direct a model, you can’t really go wrong.

And this is that last part that made me think…

After shooting using the same technique for a while, you get comfortable, and that is where the danger is. In the creative business, comfortable is not a good thing.

I often hear Chase Jarvis say that, if you want to succeed in this business, you need to try different stuff, take on any project you can, if they feel right, and get shit done. That last one is very important. If you sit on your ass all day, your portfolio and network ain’t gonna improve very much.

Also, you must not be afraid to fail. If you don’t fail then guess what, you were not trying hard enough.

So I’m not planning on failing too hard (I might, and I don’t care…), but I sure am planning on trying something new.

Last week, my friend Jessica stopped by the studio and she told me that I had “carte blanche” to do whatever I wanted. She also told me that she was training for a pretty hardcore fitness competition, so it gave me some ideas.

I decided to move away from natural light (which is a great idea if you want to work during the winter in Vancouver by the way) and use some nice studio lights for a change.

Here is a little teaser of what Jess and I did together.

I’ll show you more photos of our shoot very soon, but in the mean time let me do a little casting call.

Thanks guys!

I am back in Edmonton on a 2 week assignment, and the last few days have been quite busy. We all work between 14 to 16 hours/day here so it’s pretty hard to find time for myself.

Today was a bit slower so I took this opportunity to grab my running shoes and went for a run along the North Saskatchewan River for a couple of hours.

I really think that it’s extremely important to get out and exercise, in order to finish an intense project. Even if you’d rather stay on the couch all day.

I had never jogged in the snow before, and I gotta admit it’s kinda cool.

Everything was so nice and quiet, perfect atmosphere to let my brain go free and think about my current and future photo projects.

I usually do most of my best thinking while running.

Aces…

Today, Mélanie and Marie decided to go play a little game of Tennis.
That was the perfect opportunity for me to shoot at f/1.4 for a change.
It sure helps if you want to shoot at 1/5000 of a second. It might be overkill, but at least it stops the motion.
