A couple of days ago, I was in Venice Beach. There, you can’t look anywhere without finding something cool to photograph.

The skate park was pretty crowded, but at some point most people got out of my frame except for that rad skateboarding girl.

I don’t know who she is, but I’m assuming that she is a regular, so if you live around Venice and eventually go to the park and see her, feel free to let her know she is on my blog now, looking cool… ;o)

A few weeks ago, the Lovely August Wiled stopped by my studio to do what she loves most… Dance!

At the time I just got my hands on the latest “Muse” album and thought some of the songs would go nicely with a ballerina dancing.

Here is what we came up with, I’d love to know what you think of it.

And of course, if you are in the neighborhood, please, feel free to come to my studio to pose, dance, have fun!
I’d love to have you.

I spent the last couple of days on location for a client in Deroche, BC. (more about that very soon.)

And yesterday, before heading back to Vancouver I stopped for a few minutes to smell the roses…

Again, it was a nice “I could get used to this…” kind of moment.

Last week I was shooting an event using Canon’s 70-200mm lens.

Here is what happens when someone in the crowd gets curious about your camera and decides to move his head in front of it to get a better view.

The auto-focus shifts from far to pretty close.

Man! That lens is quick to focus!!!

My favorite tumblr…?

People often ask me about my favorite tumblrs out there.

It’s kind of a tough choice, but if I had to narrow it down, I guess I would go for:

1 - 25 and broke  (Now 27 and broke actually)

This blog created by photographer Chris Thomas is all about men’s style, amazing architecture in homes or lofts/studios,  beautiful women and nice things in general. Always classy. It is one of the first things I check every morning. Before the news.

2 - The Black Workshop

Introduced to me by Chris (see above), just check it out and you’ll immediately understand what I love about it. As a photographer and as a person in general I love nice things, but what I love most of all are nice things that are in order. I hate mess and I hate clutter. (If you check my photos you’ll see that I am not a big fan of messy backgrounds)

I don’t think owning a lot of stuff is important. I would be fine with a huge loft with the bare minimum, as long as that minimum serves a purpose and is very well designed.

3 - Unicorn Sluts

I’m not exactly sure why it’s called that way, but their content is usually hilarious, and filled with 80’s and 90’s references. I’m quite sure that the creators of this blog are of my generation and they often drop some nice pop culture “blast from the past” references that I really enjoy.

4 - Eye of the beholder

Always great for inspiration, again, one of those “always classy” blogs that I like. But only with women photos this time, and mostly nudes.

Tons and tons of photos every day from all the best photographers out there.

5 - The Depicter

Just self portraits of a nice girl from California, sometimes serious, sometimes quirky, but always very well done. Simple but it works every time.

6 - Photo Donuts

A must for inspiration with all kind of photography styles.

So, what about you? What are your favorite blogs? I would love to know. Let me know via email, or in the “ask me” box, or leave a comment.

A few weeks ago, I got the chance to collaborate with Lola Frost and Melody Mangler, two fantastic burlesque dancers in Vancouver.

These amazing ladies need no introduction in the burlesque community, as Lola has been internationally recognized at the Burlesque Hall of Fame, and Melody is considered “one of Canada’s best burlesque performers”. But if you don’t know who they are yet, please check them out.

Anyway, I shot this video a month ago and it was edited right away, but I never got around to sharing it with you. It is about to hit 10.000 views on Vimeo so I’m pretty proud of it to say the least. Let’s get it to 20.000 with your help.

Let me know what you think, and if you’re around and want to be part of this new video series, drop me a line.

Today, I finally received a book I’ve been looking forward to reading for a while.

Helmut Newton’s autobiography. We all know his photos, but who is he really?

I read the first few pages as soon as I got it. Man, his childhood was pretty messed up!

I mean really!!!

Filthy rich family, evil step brother, manipulative scary mother, got beat up in school because he was dressed like a girl.

And I’m only 20 pages in…

It’s such a good read, I can’t wait to pick it up again tonight.
